For the first time in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year, Pantone created an entirely new color for 2022: Very Peri, a color “whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.” Pantone explains,
Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives. Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light.
Learning to “embrace this altered landscape of possibilities” and find a “new perspective” that will help us “rewrite our lives”? Sounds wondrous to us — and like exactly the right color of attitude to help us move forward on our individual and collective paths to whatever the heck is next.
Here at Bloom, we often take inspiration from new colors and color trends. While not every color deserves its own jewelry collection, there’s just something about Very Peri that positively insisted on it. So we’re thrilled to introduce Bloom Jewelry’s Very Peri Collection, which brings together Tanzanite, Blue Chalcedony, and gorgeous periwinkle Enamel Diamond Coin to echo this delightful color’s transformative tones.
Pantone prides itself on selecting its Colors of the Year not simply based on global influences and trends, but rather on *what the people of the world are looking for* that color can help to communicate. Hey Pantone, we feel the hope, curiosity, creativity, and transformation, too! View the entire Very Peri Collection or read on to check out a few of our favorites.
Tanzanite Meaning and Appearance
December birthstone Tanzanite — an otherworldly-feeling violet-blue gemstone from Tanzania that’s much rarer than Diamond or Sapphire — is thought (according to the American Gem Society) to be “a stone of transformation” that helps to “develop intuition and deepen psychic abilities,” and that it has been believed to be helpful in combating stress and fear. In other words, Tanzanite is a perfect fit for Very Peri not only in its color profile, but also in the meanings Pantone is ascribing to the new color.
We think our Tanzanite Bridge Linear Hoops (pictured) are a truly superb way to bring this very special stone into your jewelry wardrobe. Great for everyday or special-occasion wear, these delicate hoops feature a row of Tanzanite rondelles and are available in either 14K Gold Filled or Sterling Silver. Consider pairing them with our equally delicate Tanzanite & 14K Gold Filled Filigree Layering Necklace and Tanzanite & Gold Filigree Anklet for a complete set.

Blue Chalcedony Meaning and Appearance
The seemingly glowing-from-within Blue Chalcedony also seems to echo both the periwinkle tones and suggested meanings of the Pantone Color of the Year. According to the International Gem Society, Chalcedony — thought to be named for an ancient Turkish seaport — is a cryptocrystalline member of the Quartz family. Translucent and sometimes shimmering in appearance, Blue Chalcedony is thought to promote openness, self-reflection, inner calm and positivity, and the ability to find the right words to communicate your ideas and emotions… in other words, to find and use your inner voice.
Our Blue Chalcedony Gold Filled Paperclip Toggle Necklace (pictured) perfectly captures our vision for showcasing this unique stone. Featuring a large Blue Chalcedony tear drop pendant and a 14K Gold Filled paperclip chain, it’s lovely on its own or as part of a layered necklace look. Consider pairing it with our Blue Chalcedony Tear Drop Earrings for a complete set.
“Very Peri” Enamel Diamond Coin — Just Because!
At Bloom Jewelry, we love a striking Diamond Coin, and our Periwinkle Enamel Compass Star Diamond Coin Necklace (pictured) brings together the Very Peri color vibe, a circumference of Pave Diamonds, and a timeless, hopeful white and silver star. Complemented Bloom’s signature hand wrapping, it’s our new necklace for celebrating this season of rediscovery! Consider pairing it with our Tanzanite Rondelle Thin Leather Triple Wrap Magnetic Clasp Bracelet, another piece you’re likely to want to wear again and again. Or, if it’s the stars you’re after, check out our Star Collection.
